You don't need to model it if you have a veining bit (roundover bit with a sharp tip). Layout the bottom lines of the pattern and do a profile cut ON the line with the veining bit. If I had more time this morning I'd make up a sample.

Not quite there, I missed the little gaps, but you get the idea. This was using the extrude weave.

It would be worth it to invest in the veining bit. It will cut much faster than doing it as a 3D model job.

They have them with a few different radius dimensions. I don't know what scale you need that pattern made, so you can choose from the selection on that linked page.
