application data folder

Post by Al Allison »

Is it possible to move the application data folder to a different drive without having to reinstall Aspire?
I moved it from
C:\ProgramData\Vectric\Aspire\V9.0
to
D:\ProgramData\Vectric\Aspire\V9.0 (Aspire is installed and runs from D: ok, but the install assumed the data is on c:)

I modified shortcuts and so on in Windows but I don't know how to get to where it apparently stores this internally so it won't load.
I moved a copy back to the c:\ProgramData so it loads, but I am looking for a way to change it in an options setting or possibly an .ini?

Any thoughts?
Tank you.

There is nothing you can set in Aspire to change the location of it.

Did you change the location of ProgramData in the registry (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ProgramData)?

Windows doesn't like the ProgramData folder being anywhere other than C though. I've moved it on my cloudbook but there are lots of issues with updates etc doing it that way.

I've found using symbolic links to move just the bits you want rather than everything is the most reliable way. Shortcuts don't really work as they don't work at a low enough level.
