Adding to Randall's list; San Francisco area has two more both of which have less flight delays than San Francisco and have access to Cal-trans to much of the bay area ... Oakland and San Jose [both have flights to UK]
Some flights are cheaper to these two cities in order to divert traffic from the over crowded San Francisco Airport

1. Flight from UK to Boston will be far less tiresome on the Vectric team.
2. Boston is a fine city with lots of history.
3. Many interesting to places to enjoy within a short drive from Boston.
4. Leo has a few more reasons.

:) Phil :)

A note about the content.
Personally, I would vote for more training content. People are spending a lot of money to attend these events, and imo get a lot more out of the training then from some of the other speakers.
I really like having manufacturers there displaying their wares, and wish there was more time to spend with them as well. Tough to do with such a short event.

I'm the other way around on speakers. I'd prefer to see less training content (hard to beat the videos for that) and more real world application. I also love to hear people talking about all aspects of the business not just the physical production side of it. To me a once a year UGM isn't the place for detailed training. Specific camps are better suited to that market.

The problem with being heavy on the training side is what level do you pitch it at? Too low and most of the audience knows how to do it and is quickly bored. Too high and there's endless questions as it's gone over the heads of too many.

If it were to be a seminar heavy on training then I'd suggest that there would need to be a detailed schedule released at the time of the date announcement so people can determine if the content offers value to them or not.

Lots of great input here. What did people think of the Nerd Cave? The goal was to show some 'tech' during breaks but we are open to ideas as to how we develop this for next year.

I’ve been to all the used group meetings since 2009 except the Florida one due to the hurricane. I wonder if Vectric has determined what percentage of the attendees are hobby types or business types. I would think that might make a difference on what would be important to show. I’m a hobby guy and love to see all the new things added to the software and how they work. I personally would like to see the training and uses for the software more than the business people. More projects that could show usage to follow along.

I have always taken away good information from each meeting.
I did like the Nerd Cave to talk to the guys and see what they brought.

The old saying goes

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

Maybe a meet and greet time - and a software overview time - and three or four generic training sessions each one of a separate topic geared towards a different group. One beginner - one intermediate - one moderate - one advanced. Maybe a hilight of a successful hobbyist - and a hilight of a small business operator.

I dunno - it seems like an unsolvable situation to me.

Some peeps some time - all peeps never

CONTENT: (seconding a fair bit of Leo's comments)
Rotary Axis modeling and tool path creation. Seems like there is so much more we could do.
Couple presentations on how to model 3d shapes, blending, more like what James did a few years back. My thought how to alter purchased models to better suit what I need, rather than making due.
New developments Vectric is working on.
Anything to make modeling faster easier, especially after taking a break between projects.

PARTNER SPEAKERS
Maybe few than we had in Vegas, some of the frequent forum contributors I'd like to hear go into detail on how they accomplished some of their amazing work.

FOOD
Was very disappointed in Vegas (Embassy Suites 2017) 2015 was very good.

LOCATION:
Seems fair something on the east coast given the West Coast has been given Odd years. I do like that Vectric has kept the hotel & travels costs down, so towns that airfare & hotel are in the more reasonable price range is appreciated. That said, NE USA has some great woodworking sites that might be fun for non-UGM days...

I didn't go for the food, but I have to agree with you. :D I was a little surprised by people saying how good the food was. Especially being in Vegas, where excellent food is everywhere.
The food wasn't terrible, but average at best.

Can't blame Vectric, though, and I think you just have to get lucky when planning an event like this in another country. Sometimes you just don't know what you are going to get.
