A customer has brought in a slab and asked me to carve a monogram on it. I took a picture of the slab and imported into Aspire to aid me in sizing and placing the monogram.

I would like to send the customer a preview showing the carved monogram on the slab. Is this possible? I can get a screen shot of the vectors over the imported jpg, but can't seem to get an image of the tool paths after they have been run over the imported jpg.

These may help:
Can I add different types of preview materials?
How do I add new material image files to the available list?

Can I add different types of preview materials?
Although the standard list of job preview materials provides a reasonable selection of woods, stones and metals to choose from, you may have a project that requires a special material type. For example, a customer may require their work to be carved into a special wood that is not in the default list of materials.

The Job Preview material list can very easily be edited to include your own material types and selection names, allowing your work to be previewed and saved in the same materials that you are actually planning to rout or engrave.

How do I add new material image files to the available list?
From Aspire 4 / VCarve Pro 7 onwards you can add new images to the Material Images folder in your Vectric Files folder.

In Aspire 3.5 / VCarve Pro 6.5 or earlier you will need start the program and use File > Open Application Data Folder. This will open a new window showing all the program's support folders. You can add new material image files to the Bitmap Textures folder.

You will need to restart the software for your new image files to appear in the material drop-down lists.

Awesome! Thank you!

I just assumed that the only images I could put in those folders were images to be tiled. I cropped my image to the same proportions as the material size and imported into a new folder "custom" under "bitmap textures". Worked great.

Thanks again.

Thank you, Rebecca.

All the Vectric videos are so informative. I've watched a number of them but had not seen that one.

I dont think that i will be cutting a buzzard in my expensive live edge black walnut slab, it was just the first model that popped up. But this is pretty cool. Just a matter of sizing and i am good to go.
