When you say your not getting the results you want do you mean in the toolpath preview or when you actually machine it ? Couple of photos or screenshots of what you are getting would be helpful & details on what cutter & settings you are using.
Have you had good results with other photos ? Is this in wood,a lithophane or something else ???

A higher res pic would help. Files saved as .jpg will give a lot of halos. In this one the sky has a lot of the same grey tonal values as the bright side of the building. Try masking off the sky and setting it to true white and create the model with combine mode set to Subtract.

Thanks for the response,
New to Aspire and don't know crap.
I machined it in foam to test it and it looks like your post Mike-s.
I feel that i need a bit more of detail, or at least to be sharper. Looks to "blurry" when I machine it.
Trying to get a better photo, but I'm getting the round around...
Wanted to know how does people who knows approaches this type of jobs.
The masking you tell me, is it done in Aspire or are you using other software?
Trying to post a photo of machined foam but having issues with that.
Thanks again

What's the name of the building? Have you tried a Google search for a better picture?
The photo is low resolution and blurry, it's going to be hard to get a good quality component from it. You might have to create your own vector drawing.

Looks like the Consolidated Edison Building in NYC. There don't seem to be any real high res images around from the same sort of angle.

I know it would take some effort and not usually the "quick and easy way" that most people want, but based on the photo, and a Google Search of the Consolidated Edison building it could be drawn to a level of detail that would be quite pleasing.

Manually trace some stuff. Create shapes from scratch. Node Editing. Array. These are some tools that would be used.

After the vectors are created then model shapes can be created and merged.

It's all good practice and experience.

The end result would be better than any picture to model shape.

here's another shot. I resampled the picture to a higher res. Then smothed the result 1 time.

I would lean towards Leo's comments. This would be a really good exercise for you. Using orthagonal projection this could be a quickly drawn model. Bonus you will learn a ton about modeling along the way.

i also agree with Leo and Dwayne, lots to learn from creating your own model. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard, lots of straight lines.

Thanks again,
I don't mind the work, just that at this point
don't know where to start. I'm going in vacation next week, planning to take
laptop with me and hit it hard. I'm good at cad, not familiar with this software, but
I'm confident that with the proper effort I'll get it.
My problem is, do I draw the outside profile, then all of the windows, then the clock, then
all the features as closed entities? OK, I can do that, then how I combine stuff, do I create
separate operations for each entity? Oh man, I hate this feeling, getting frustrated...
Thanks for your help. Going to watch some training videos.
By the way, yes is the Coned building in New York. I work for Coned.
