Adding to previous model?

Post by oldlogtrucker »

I have a horseshoe model that is done. I want to add a connecting bar across the top with aspire. I think I need to use the modeling tool but I cannot seem to get my model 2 inches thick. Getting the length seems to work but does not want to get raised to height. Any suggestions from you seasoned modelers?
Thanks Kathy

Kathy,

Can you post pictures? What file format is the model that you already have?

Depending on the model format you should be able to add and get all the sizes you want.

If you have an STL maybe not, but I am not all that skilled yet. The real modeling people may have more information to add.

Either way, we will need a little more info.

I'm glad Highpockets made a model because that's what I would have guessed, too. If you're just trying to put a bar across the top and your horseshoe model is already at the right thickness, then the modeling tool is probably not the right tool for the job. Better to create a new component with the shape and height you want, then combine the two with a combine mode of "Merge".

So High Pockets, how did you manufacture the model of your board?

Kathy,

I just drew a rectangle over the horseshoe then used "create a shape from vector outlines" on the Modeling tab. I clicked the "Flat Profile" under "Shape Profile".

Well Kathy just made me aware of something I think is going to be an issue.

Aspire v8 can't read .crv3d files created in v9!!! And I couldn't figure out how to save to v8. I recreated the horseshoe in v8 and it's too big to upload!!!!

Am I missing something here?
