Adding clipart to a Stacked text cut.

Post by dwilli9013 »

Ok I have banged my head quite a bit on this one.
So in the attached file I am using the stacked text method to create the cut. On the Locked In Love October 27 2017 text this was done as a v-carve text. In doing this it left the 2 open areas on either side of the text that look empty to me.
What I would like to do is put a couple of pieces of clip art on either side. However as many different methods I have tried all have failed to tool path the clip art into the sign.
Is it something simple I am missing here? Or can this even be done? :? :?

Dwayne,

Have you tried placing the models where you want them and use the "Create vector boundary around selected vector" tool to both leave material when pocketing and restrict the 3D toolpaths to just the 3D models?

Dwayne,
One thing you'll need to consider is the placement of the models in the Z axis.
By that I mean. the flat spot where you want to place the models is below the top surface.
So if the model is less than whatever that pocket is you'll need to place the model within the material..
Just another thing to consider.

John sir you are dah man!!!!
Michael you are the grand master as always.
Between John and Michaels suggestions. It worked out wonderfully. Now that I have the method I will add my graphics to the other side and get it ready to cut.
I also found that if I do an offset boundary for the graphic when the 3d finish cuts it blends it in nicely.
Thanks for the tips and methodology. :D :D :D :D
