Roughing 3D object

Post by adam_m »

So I'm running a 3D object that does a couple of "rough" passes and I don't understand why instead of clearing the material in a nice even back and forth X axis move it moves further into the Y axis then comes back and cleans up?

Can that be fixed? Is there a setting to turn that off?

You can experiment with the Roughing Strategy options but with some shapes that's just how it works. There was an explanation posted by Brian (I think) of how it works when Aspire first came out but I can't find it now.

Bigger!

A plunge cut vs is much tougher on tooling and machine vs a standard back and forth and loading the bit 30-40%.

Thanks for the reply
