Have you tested the file in another application to make sure it's ok? Starting to sound like it's a bad file.

What file type is it? (OBJ, STL, ??)

It's a 3ds file that opens in VCarve 8.5. I have tried opening several files that I was using in 8.5 and none of them will open.

I uploaded the file that I am trying to open in VCarve 9. If you can try it and let me know if it opens for you.

Yes, that file imports no problem into VCarve 9.008 as well as 8.517

I can't import it into VCarve or Aspire. In Aspire I actually get a crash with it.

Try importing into a metric job. That dumps every time for me.

No matter what I try I still get the same error failed to load component data from file. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program. It opens in 8.5 with no problem. Even rebooted the computer.

Looks like it's another of those annoying issues that affects some computers and not others. If I try to import it into a job created with inches I get the "failed to import" message. If I create a metric job and try it I get a crash instead.

Hopefully there will be an answer from Vectric tomorrow.

Wow! This is a surprise. I'm having absolutely no trouble at all with that model. (Dang. I'll bet the programmers feel like pulling some hair out with these kind of issues.)

I still use Win 7 Pro on all my computers, if that is any help to the programmers.

Did you try it in 8.5 and if so did it work? I sent the question off to support to see if they can figure it out. Just one of those things I guess.
