Incline a closed vector
Incline a closed vector
Hello
I have a MDF board (16mm) and I want to make some inclined shapes(Shown in the image).

How is that possible. I can sweep between two open vectors but my shape is closed and those jagged areas are important and I want them as part of inclination.
What I want is to go down 3mm and come to the surface smoothly.
Thank you

Picture didn't make it.
From your description you might look at the fluting toolpath or the molding toolpath.
Picture would help a lot.

In the picture above, I have two parallel lines that I can sweep between those two to make a inclined box(shown in tiled windows).
in the following picture, I have those two parallel lines as well BUT PLUS jagged lines along height. I want them to be part of sweep.

As I understand it, you are using the two rail sweep. So you need two separate vectors to sweep along, not a closed vector. Try cutting the vector at the ends using the Node edit tool.

you actually have an undercut in the attached pictures. That cannot be done on the vectric software.

That was my first thought when I looked at it Dwayne but having read Mikes post about using a 2 rail sweep I realised I was looking at it the wrong waydwilli9013 wrote:you actually have an undercut in the attached pictures. That cannot be done on the vectric software.

At least you fellas say that my problem was understood, but didn't find a solution for it or it is not implementable, so that I can say to my customer: "Goodbye"

I'm having trouble figuring out what exactly you want to do.
If it's a groove with jagged ends, you can use the cookie cutter to trim the two rail sweep.

Oh. That's it. How did you do that? What is a cookie cutter?Mike-S wrote:I'm having trouble figuring out what exactly you want to do.

There are two cookie cutters.
You should really go thru the tutorials--much less frustration if you get familiar with the software.

I would second what Mike said about the tutorials, but don't cherry pick, start at the beginning & work your way through them. Download the tutorial files & work along rather than just watch, they won't answer all the questions you might have but will certainly answer a lot of them
From your previous post it would seem that this is a customer that you don't really want, if that is the case then get rid of them
From experience the customers that are most difficult to deal with are also the ones that don't want to pay much & are the first to complain Not always obviously as there are always exceptions but generally speaking
