When I first began a year ago I made a 24" wide spoilboard. My machine will actually cut 25" wide so I want to remove the entire old one & replace it w/ a 25" board.
I've created a simple Pocket toolpath, etc BUT I don't understand how to set the "Material Setup" info so I can actually reach the table and cut all the way down to the bed.
Every time I run the TAP it tells me Error - Boundary Exceeded [Z-] long before it actually reaches the spoilboard.
So, if I have an approx 11mm spoilboard and intend to plane it 1mm per pass how should it be set up in Aspire 8.5? I've been playing with the settings and cannot figure out how to cut "below the deck". I'm not actually going to cut the tabletop but I want to be able to get within 1mm before sanding it flat and starting over with a brand new spoilboard.

Have you checked the soft limits in your control software? Sounds like you're exceeding those.

Also, have you set Z zero to the top of your spoil board?

Re: Material setup removing entire spoilboard
Aspire has no idea of the limits of your machine. You can program a Z move that is obviously way past the capacity, like you are going to cut something 12 inches deep. If you tell Aspire the material is 12 inches thick, it will generate the program.
That said, you are getting the error either because of soft limits in the control software or you are hitting the limit switch.
I would bet dollars to donuts that it is the software limits. I do not know the details of your control, but every control I have ever worked with allows the limits to be changed or disabled.

Plus One to what Ted says.
You can turn off the limits, but since I am aware how they are setup on your machine, I believe that you are getting the warning because your code is outside the physical boundaries of the machine. Post your CRV file and we can get you going in the right direction.

Re: Material setup removing entire spoilboard
The error was my fault / problem. I was CALIBRATING incorrectly. Rather than bringing the tool down to the spoilboard and clicking "CALIBRATE" I was clicking "ZERO Z". Then I would click "CALIBRATE". The calibrate process sets Z=zero rather than me needing to do it manually. (All of this was in WinCNC.) Thanks for all the suggestions ---

Thanks for getting back to all of us as to what solved the problem.
