New Englang MEET & GREET
This is just a feeler
If we (forum members & friends) but together a Meet & Greet back yard social, loosly focused on this forum and Vectric and CNC and "makers", who would be interested?
Before I compile a date, and agenda for the day gathering, I just wonder what the interest would be.
There is a good possibility Michael Mezalick would be in attendance, and the rest would be just us - forum members and friends. This is not an official Vectric event and I have not even asked Vectric. I don't mean to overstep and if Vectric believes this is innappropriate the message can be deleted without any soreness on my part. I am a staunch Vectric supported and wish no harm at all to a great organization.
As to the day, I am thinking the following.
Nice Sunny warm New England day.
NO alcohol of any sort
Soda, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, sandwiches.
Voluntary Donations to cover expenses
Shop will be available
CNC will be available
Vectric software will be available - one computer
Possibly a show and tell table
Chairs
Radio
Kiddys are invited
Spouses are invited
This will be a family friendly event
My house is small with one bathroom.
I have one extra bedroom if you need a nap, of baby needs a quiet place.
I have ample parking
Any tutorials, or demonstrations will be impromptu and not necessarily planned.
This is more of a social, than a planned event.
Just a time to meet and greet.
So - what interest is there for this?

Re: New Englang MEET & GREET
Leo,
I would love to do something like this but it turns out to be quite a jaunt for me as I am in Rockford Il. I used to live in Rhode Island so I am very well versed on the trip.
Sounds like a grand time will be had. Hopefully it will spawn some interest of something similar for us Central Midwest users.
Great idea actually and I think you have quite a number of people interested. Always good to work in the face to face meetups when you can.
Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Like Dwayne, I'd be there in a heartbeat if it wasn't halfway across the country. I think a meet and greet is a great idea.

I just cannot help myself. . . which one of the three sunny, warm New England days do you have in mind?Leo wrote:This is just a feeler

Obviously I would attend, BUT, it is a two day ride. And an ugly one at that! Washington DC, Jersey Turnpike, past Gotham and its environs.....YIKES! When we moved I made that trip a total of four times, both ways. If I see the NJ Turnpike ever again, I know I will have died and been found wanting.
Seriously, hope you get some interest ginned up, sounds like it would be a good time!

Re: New Englang MEET & GREET
I've got a couple tentative feelers out for a ride down Leo.
How many miles to the nearest accessible bathroom, and are there 36" wide doors into shop? Stairs involved?
Thanks Leo!

Re: New Englang MEET & GREET
I am thinking on mid to late August.
Scott - 3 steps to get into the house. Bathroom door is 28-30 inch, but other doors are 36 or better.
I am thinking if I get 6-8 people interested, I will get more solid plans going.
I think this would be a really nice get together if we do it.

I would absolutely love it but Washington state is quite a jaunt. Especially in the summer months, We have water to change and fruit to pick until late Sept

I am sure with all of the heavyweight power users that appear to be attending 3 steps involved would be accomdated via a couple of well placed 2x6's or brute manpower. Heck you could even have onlookers chant Hail Caesar as you are transported.
Bathroom, that's another situation that is best answered by Leo.
Would love to get up there and mingle with all of you but that is a bit of a jaunt for me. Ere regardless sounds like a great time destined to happen.

Leo ... I'm 30 miles beyond the border of New England, in the Hudson River Valley, but if you'll accept an outlander, I'll be there. It will be good to see Scott again and make some new friends.

I would like to go & meet some of the other Vectric users but unfortunately it's a bit to far for me , if I win the Lottery then hopefully one day I will be able to get over there & meet some other Vectric users at one of the official events

Re: New Englang MEET & GREET
Leo, sounds "doable":)
I'll try to get the guy I trained to take over the second Desktop interested and get a ride with him.
If any Mainer's will be attending... do you have a pick-up/minivan/ etc. and willing to stop in Kennebunkport to pick up a hitch-hiker in a wheelchair?
Be nice to see you again too Bob!
Dad still talks about your visit here. I'll be interested to see what you've been up to:)
scott
(Dwayne...being carried like a slab of meat offends my male pride:) Even when fly fishing up North, I'll only let the guides let me use their shoulders to get in and out of canoe....then I "butt-walk" up the banks )

I will give you a definite maybe. I'm certainly interested but it will depend largely on the date.
