preview waste material will not delete

Post by Xxray »

Trying to drum up a preview here and scrap material will not delete, saying I have tabs which I do not.

cut all the way through, cannot see any logical reason why it is doing this and is hobbling getting this thing done and shipped.

You have tabs in you cut. If you want to delete the waste to show the final product temporally remove the tabs.

Repeat - There are no tabs in the cut.

I triple checked before I posted, no tabs.

don't use them often but I think they do show in preview if present. Have had this happen before but more any annoyance now its an inconvenience. Ended up just doing a screen shot and sending that.

Try upping the Preview Simulation Quality under the Toolpath menu. Sometimes with a thin cut in relation to the size of the job there can be touching pixels at the lower resolutions which the software then basically treats as a tab.

Doug,
A simple answer would be to set the cutting depth .01 deeper than the thickness of the material

Agree with Michael to duplicate the toolpath for preview only, and increase depth of cut.

I have had this & found that increasing the Toolpath preview resolution as Adrian has suggested worked so it looks like either method has the same results
Only problem with increasing the toolpath resolution is that it will increase the time the simulations takes so if you have an older slow running machine then it can take a bit longer

Looking at the image it does not look like you actually previewed the profile toolpath. Without doing that, there is no waste material. Maybe I am wrong but that is what it looks like...

Actually did, material is .5 and cut .51

I would think, if its through its through and doesn't really matter, in simulation, if its .51 or .91, the preview clearly shows when it is through.

Doug have you checked that the profile vector is closed and that there is no nodes out of place or perhaps a duplicate vector that is open?

Tim may be right, doesn't look like I even ran the profile, had a bunch of temp and revised toolpaths and might have got mixed up ... Closed that session long ago, but should be easy enough to replicate.

I know this is an older thread, but I ran into this same issue and the increase in preview simulation quality fixed my issue.

Among the steps I took to troubleshoot was increasing the bit size (which also fixed it). Oddly enough when I shrunk the bit size, it barely even registered in the preview.
Thanks,

-Eric
