Strange tool path

Post by dcgayhart »

When I created the tool path for the escapement on my clock and did the preview it looked good:

When I cut it on the Camaster Stinger it came out like this:

Any ideas what happened? I have cut 15 gears and the frame so far and nothing like this has happen.

Only a guess here, but any chance that you previewed the file with a 1/4" bit and cut it with one that was larger?

I'd agree with Gary. It looks like it was cut with a larger bit than was specified in the preview.

I cut it with a .25 end mill, same as in the tool path setup.

Or maybe you cut ON the vector instead of OUTSIDE of the vector...?

I'll try it again tomorrow with a fresh file. Let you all know.

Also check that the tool defined in the tool database with 0.25 or whatever in the NAME really has a diameter of 0.25" set in the fields. I've often copied a tool, renamed it, but forgotten to actually change the diameter!

The bit diameter is defined as 0.125 in your file
