Maybe something for the next upgrade
Maybe something for the next upgrade
I tend to get burnmarks when i cut 3d and it is allways where the tool increases to the next tool track to follow, I can not control where in the material the software will make this otherwise you could put it where it is easiest to grind in the model.
My thought is that if you have an increasing spiral toolpath constantly growing the result would be better.

I do not get the burning, however, usually I can see a tool mark where the tool steps over. Little less sanding than a burn mark.
Have had the same thought as you and think it is a good idea.

Not absolutely sure - but where the bounding vector made there is a start point on the vector.
THAT - may be the point you are referring to.
If this is true - you CAN move the start point.

Nope that does not appear to be the case.
So - I do not know the answer.

I think this kind of growing spiralpossibility can give you better results in pocketing and when you do flattening on your workpiece, Im going to try this today with the gadget for spiralcutting that Poulrowntree developed.

Re: Maybe something for the next upgrade
I have used Paul's gadget before and up until 9 o'clock this morning I would have said that it only works with circular shapes. Got to revise that though. It works for other shapes too although the toolpath isn't an efficient one considering the machine is still doing a complete spiral over the entire circle.ABBZ wrote:I think this kind of growing spiralpossibility can give you better results in pocketing and when you do flattening on your workpiece, Im going to try this today with the gadget for spiralcutting that Poulrowntree developed.
In this example the Z zero is on top the material. Funny thing is that you need to set the cutting depth to 0 (zero) too and project it onto the 3D model. It might be wise to set the physical Z zero of the machine just a fraction above to material to avoid the bit cutting faintly into the section outside of the model.

Oh Yeah spiral offset will be heaven for many things
Re: Maybe something for the next upgrade
I noticed that the spiraltoolpath when projected to a 3dmodel gives you a poor preview result, it cutts away too much material it seems.
I set it to cutdepth 0.

Re: Maybe something for the next upgrade
+1 on the spiral toolpath. The very first time I used Aspire (carving out a seat) I wondered why they didn't use a spiral toolpath. I actually avoid using the offset toolpath specifically to avoid toolmarks when the bit steps over. And it would cut faster.

I haven't tried an actual project but the preview looks good to me.ABBZ wrote:I noticed that the spiraltoolpath when projected to a 3dmodel gives you a poor preview result, it cutts away too much material it seems.

Re: Maybe something for the next upgrade
Maby this is a toolpath problem, the projecting does not consider how the model looks further away and because of that it does not now that it is cutting away material?

Re: Maybe something for the next upgrade
what is the shape of the contour you are using to cut?
I mean the 2d vectors
I mean the 2d vectors
Re: Maybe something for the next upgrade
This is a model in the Aspireprogram and i allready cut it so this is just thoughts how to improve the cuttingstrategy. (Model name "Shell" in decorative)
