Clock Face

Post by Ms Wolffie »

How do you get the numbers (1-12) on a clock face to turn around in the correct degree?
When I do a circular array, it does the same number 12 times.
There must be a way, I just haven't found it yet
I was thinking 12 boxes with different numbers inside, then delete the box but that seems like a clumsy way to do it.

I haven't figure it out either. I just click on each number and change it in the font box.

That's what I did also. Then embellished it a little bit while playing around with the results.

Another method:
Turn on snap option "object centers". (F4)
Circular array some small circles so they are located where you want the numbers.
Add a new layer and create text 123456789101112 on it.
Convert the text to curves.
Select one or two of the numbers and click on a selected curve a second time.
Click on the center point of the selected number(s) and drag it to the center of the desired small circle. It should snap into perfect alignment with the center. Repeat to suit.
Turn off (or delete) the layer with the small circles.

Thank you Mike and C1.
My problem is, though, that I need the numbers to rotate as well as being in the correct position.
eg #3 will be at 90 degrees to #12 etc. etc.

That's probably going to be a separate operation using the rotate selected objects tool on each number after you place the numbers where you want them. The numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 can also be rotated in 30 degree increments so that they are still more or less right side up.

A bar clock face has the numbers in reverse order. :D I have one of those I bought years ago. Roman numeral faces have the numbers rotating to inverted at 6 pm.

If you need to rotate a number, select and then click on it, then use the rotate handle. Holding down the shift key will cause the rotation to be in 15 degree increments.
