Surfacing spoilbaord

Post by eezbayer »

Hello, I'm new to CNC and have setup the following

WorkBee V3 1000x1500mm
CNC xPro v5 controller
Interface: cncjs
5mm probe
30mm diameter surfacing bit
Post processor is a custom build from the manufacturer / seller of the cnc called "Grbl (mm) MSAU(!.gcode).pp"
Can the post processor cause this type of issue?

What's happening is once the gcode is initiated, the cnc moves to position, the spindle starts, the Z axis lowers down and sits 3mm above the spoilboard instead of the programmed 1mm in the surface of the spoilboard.

Vectric settings, just a standard rectangle vector covering the max working area

Once I have created my tool path
1. Upload gcode to cncjs
2. Home
3. Manoeuvre surfacing bit above corner of max reach of XY axis
4. Probe with 5mm probe upside down as I’m surfacing the spoil board (see attached image)
5. Initiate gcode

I have also attached settings of cncjs once it has been homed and probed

Make sure you have z-zero set to the same location in the software and on the machine (controller) Either surface of the material or surface of the spoilboard is okay but both must be the same.
