How exactly does distort between vectors work? Does it matter how far the vector rails are away from what you are distorting? Does it scale as a percentage from the centerline between? I'm trying to get letter to look the same size down a tapered column, and the only way I can do it now is to do it once, cut it, then measure, then rescale. If I understood how the distort tool did what it does, I might be able to get close enough in one shot.
thanks,
John

Re: mathematically, how does distort between vectors work?
I can't answer your specific question.
Create your text
Draw 3 vectors, One through the text, and the other 2 vertical at the ends of the horizontal line.
Center your text with these.
Adjust height of your end vectors to the taper your needing.
Select text and distort icon
The corner nodes of the distortion boundary box will snap to the endpoints of your vertical construction lines
Hope this helps.
While in the distort mode, you have exact placement of those nodes on the distort boundary box just like when node editing. mouse over a node and press "x", this will bring up node properties
