optivation of Vcarve

Post by Art Ransom »

here are some computed run times

26" azetc calander
64,501 lines of code
60 degree V bit .25" depth of cut
.125 end mill .1" depth of cut
.4" flat depth

feed rate 50 IPM 100 IPM 150 IPM 200 IPM 250 IPM
plunge rate 30 IPM 5.28 hr 3.29 2.49 2.30 2.18
plunge rate 80 IPM 4.40 2.42 2.20 1.42

Some observations:
Carving is done in layers set by depth of cut of material
The .125" end mill makes 4 identical passes at .1", .2", .3" and finally .4". If the code was optomize so at each move the tool would take 4 pases and mill to depth before moving to next closest location I would expect at least a 50% reduction in run time.
The .5" 60 degree bit makes 2 identical cuts at .25" and .4". Again if the cut to depth before moving to next closest location I would expect a 20% to 40% decrease in run time.
