Question about open vectors

Post by bluegoose »

I am trying to cut a profile on outside of the attached file and keep getting message that there are open vectors and I don't know enough to correct them. Would someone please point me in the right direction?

thanks

I opened your file. Click on "join Open Vectors"

I changed the tolerance to .008 selected the vector and hit join and it worked.

Hi bluegoose,

The design consists of multiple vectors because the ends of the vectors
shown in the diagram below are not drawn accurately.

You could use the Join command with a large tolerance as Les suggested
but this will be reflected in the toolpaths. I would recommend using the
Node Editing Tools to insert / delete / move nodes to enable the end points
to be joined precisely.

I hope this helps,

Tony

Thanks, Les and Tony. I must not understand closing vectors just right. I started with the open vector tolerance as .1 and then went up to .2,.3,.4, etc. and it would not work. I didn't try to go less than .1, I just thought anything less than what I entered (.1) would close.

thanks again

Choose "select all open vectors" each time before you enter a new tolerance.
When i have open vectors I can't locate...I'll either delete them then select individual spans to identify
where it was open at, then use a node edit to repair.
You can also choose a very large tolerance and a vector span will be generated...then you can node edit to repair it.
