V Carve wizzard

Post by akransom »

I have seen references to V carve Wizzard. Where can I find it?
Played around with the trial programs and was impressed. Software pretty intuitave. Since my business is turning wood the abality to wrap it around a colum is mandatory and I will try swapping A and Y and see how that works. I do wish that the trial versions would let me change the dimensions and a tutorial on the use of different cutting tools, when to use them and materials in reference to VCarve would be a big help. $600 is a little pricy for a toy but if I can use it in my business not a bad price. Hopefull VCarve is in my future.

When Vectric started they offered V Carve Wizard. In the past year they have devolved VCW into a complete stand alone program. So VCW ‘s name was changed to V Carve Pro to reflect this.

Hi Art Ransom,

We changed the product name to VCarve Pro (as Dan mentioned) when version 3.0 was released at
the end of June.

You can download a Fully working Trial version of the software plus Tutorial Videos from the Web site,

Download > http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... wnload.htm

Tutorials > http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... orials.htm

All of the Sample files supplied with the Trial version can be scaled to any size, cut using any
combination of tools and the toolpaths saved and run on your own CNC machine.

The price for VCarve Pro is US$495

I hope this helps and let us know if you have any further questions.

Tony

Which of the Sample Files are you trying to edit?

Testing with the Trial version at my end works fine and as an example, the Open Sign can
be re-sized, the cutter geometry and cutting feedrates changed, toolpaths recalculated and
the results saved as CNC code using any of the postps.

The Trial Version will also open your own designs, calculate and preview the toolpaths but
these cannot be saved for obvious reasons.

VCarve trial errors

Post by akransom »

This is the simplest I have tried

1. start Vcarve
2. file, open, attorney.crz
3. edit, material size, inches
4. toolpath, setup material z=.25, ok
5. edit, select all vectors
6. toolpath, v bit 60 ¼” , calculate, save
7. reply “ Sorry this version of Vcarve can only etc.

FYI same on machine in house and machine in shop

Hi Art,

The full message which is displayed when you try and save the file is
Sorry ...
The trial version of VCarve Pro can
only save toolpaths for vectors from
the supplied tutorial files.
Please load a tutorial file from the
Evaluation files to machine ...
section on the Start Page to test
machined output.
The important part here is

Please load a tutorial file from the
Evaluation files to machine ...
section on the Start Page

The attorney.crv is not one of the files on the "Evaluation files to machine ..." section of the Start Page and so the toolpaths cannot be saved from it. Along with the the tutorial files, we included a wider selection of files with the trial to let people 'play around' more with the software in case they didn't have any suitable vector files of their own.

I've included screen shots of the message and the start page to show the list of files which can be cut. Simply click on one of the files in this list on the start page to load it.

Hope this helps
