vcarve pro inlay

Post by mjpusa »

I am making inlays for some small boxes. For instance I pocket an area of 4x6 inches and then I offset inward for a profile cut for the inlay of say .004 to make the inlay fit in the pocket and the amount is always doubled for example to .008. etc. Is this a program fault or a people fault?

Thanks Jerry

On thing I always forget is say have a circle that 1 inch across and then you offset it by .125 inches. It expands it all the way around .125 inches. So the circle is now 1.25 inches across. If you just want it to be .125 bigger or 1.125 across you need to offset by .0625 or half of the total.

The same holds true for offsetting inwards too.

Hope this helps.

Just about everytime I do an offset I forget about this and then sit there a for few minutes trying to figure out what I did wrong.

Glad to help.
