VcarvePro 9.015
Post is grbl inch
I have a geometric design that has two narrow rectangles as part of it. The two rectangles are exactly the same size and mirrored in the relative position in a larger rectangle.
I am doing a vcarve profile.
For one of the rectangles, the tool path outlines the rectangle. This is what I want.
For the other rectangle, the tool path cuts down the middle of the rectangle, between the top and bottom lines. Since they are farther apart than simply carving the perimeter of the rectangle, the result is a wide, deep groove instead of a shallow narrow rectangle.
I'm very, very new to CNC, so I can see what is wrong, but I don't know why.
Help, please.

Re: tool path inconsistent
Very difficult to help when it is verbalized.
The best thing to do is post your file here. If it is too big to fit then use something like DropBox, OneDrive, etc and provide the link.
Even a screen shot is better than a bunch of words that we all sit here and try to figure out.

Right. Sorry.
Attached is the crv file from vcarvepro. Attaching the gcode file is not allowed. The jpg shows the two areas that I was talking about. In the upper red area, the tool path cuts around the 4-sided polygon. In the lower red area, the tool path cuts through the middle of the 4-sided polygon. The polygons are the same size and the distance between them and the surrounding lines is the same.

Re: tool path inconsistent
Please don't ask why this worked, but moving the starting point of the closed vector solved the issue. Someone much smarter than I will have to explain this one...

Tks much, John. I'm not really concerned as to why it worked. What's important is that it did.

John: I would like to know why, too, but for now, I figure it's likely beyond my comprehension level. Thanks to you, I was able to cut the project. Right now, that had to be my priority.

I've talked to Vectric Support and they are looking into the issue.

Re: tool path inconsistent
I have seen this odd tool path thing when I mirror objects. I have to go back and node edit them to change the direction of the line.
Thanks,
Jim
