Fractions: the EASY way

Post by Mikehell »

Im sure many of you know this already, but I just discovered it a couple weeks ago, and it's made my life a whole lot easier.

Let's say the work order calls for something 7-7/8 wide. You can look up 7/8 on a chart, or do the math with a calculator, or know that 7/8 is. .875

But... You can just type it in as 7 7/8=

When you hit the "=" it does the math and Ta-Da! It changes it to 7.875

This has made things go so much faster for me.

Glad it's been helpful for you! Here is a bit more information in the docs as well in case that's of any use to you or others.

Yep. Fractions and even math in most number entry boxes. I'll use my tape measure, and might "think" a measurement is 12 inches plus a half less a sixteenth. Put it in as 12+.5-1/16= to get 12.4375. A brilliant feature IMO.
