Shopbot File Empty Error

Post by JGolden »

I just did a "Save Toolpaths to File" Shopbot TC(Inch)(*sbp), and the .sbp file reads as empty.
But when I open it in Notepad, all the text is there.

What causes this and how do I fix it?

The screenshot you've attached for the ShopBot editor/viewer doesn't have a file loaded as the file name is not displayed in the header.

My first thought was that it probably doesn't like the filename. I can load it into my version ok (2.012) but it depends on what version you have along with which version of Windows I guess. There are lots of annoying bugs with the ShopBot programs. Personally I never use the editor as I don't have a need to. I just load the file and run.

I found that the folder was causing the problem.

I saved the .sbp to the Desktop, which was a good file.
I then copied it to a CNC folder for Shopbot to run, and the file showed empty.
I deleted the CNC folder and made a new one with the same exact name.
I copied the same file from the Desktop to the new CNC folder, and the .sbp now works.

Avoid using any special characters in the file name.... ' apostrophe used to bite me once in a while in the beginning
I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself
