How can I draw vectors in a stl-model?
When I click on the stl model, I can se a shape of the image, but when I try to add vectors to it, the shape of the stl image fades out. Are there any way to fix this problem? i want to cut a pocket in an area of the stl model in order to add something else.

In Aspire you can right click on the model, click on Object Properties and move the Fading of non selected bitmap slider all the way to the left.
It should be available in VCP 9.5+ as well.

I knew you could do that! A long time ago. Totally forgot about that feature. Very handy, glad someone asked this question to remind those of us with memory "issues".

If you are not familiar with V-Carve or Aspire --- To accomplish adding vectors to a model you can also select the boundary icon (Third icon) under the Model tab.
Click twice slowly on model until handles (little boxes, center, sides & four corners) appear then click on the boundary icon.
Hope this will save you some time!
And yes that was definitely a refresher!!! I have forgotten that one too!!!

Is that function only for the outside edge of the model, or can it also add vectors other places at the surface of the model?sharkcutup wrote:If you are not familiar with V-Carve or Aspire --- To accomplish adding vectors to a model you can also select the boundary icon (Third icon) under the Model tab.

Re: How can I draw vectors in a stl-model?
Basically if the model is solid it will place a vector outlining the models outside edge, yes. But I have also found that it will do models that are not completely solid that have cuts through the model. V-Carve will also place vectors there. An example of this is below:
Anything on surface of model vectors will have to be added as required!

There is a way to get vectors on the surface of the model.jaru-eri wrote: or can it also add vectors other places at the surface of the model?
Select the model and then use the “Trace Bitmap” function. Use the slider to get the best fit for your need.
