Test word spacing

Post by W2csa »

Is there a way to space letters within a word (or multiple words) without doing them individualy by using the "edit text spacing" tool?

The auto layout text tool (the T with the square around) lets you specify stretching spaces to fit a word to a pre-defined size. Depending on why you're not happy with the text spacing tool that might work better for you.

Does the layout tool stretch the text or kern it and just add the space?

The Auto Layout Text tool has a Horizontal Kerning option.

Just keep in mind that ultimately, even after any automated spacing you set up, you may still want to re-visit certain letter combinations to refine the kerning so things "look right". It's a very visual and subjective thing, of course, but something that can take a very nice display to an eye-catching one in real life.
