I read this forum every day and I learn a lot of things to do with my Vcarve Desktop.
The latest thing I learned was the Vector Selection for circles. I did the Ornithological Abode a couple of weeks back, and I painfully changed every circle from 1/4 inch to 6 mm so that my 6mm bit (I don’t own a 1/4 bit) would only ”drill” a hole, not carving it. It took a while.
Today I read about the vector selection for circles, then the tip about using the offset tool. First I could not get it to work, because I wanted all circles to be 3 mm, but when I realised that offset should be entered as (6,135 - 3,135) / 2 it worked flawlessly. It took less than a minute to do all circles.
So, again, Thank You all :D

The really good part is that the learning doesn't stop. There's something new every day. :) This is one of the best forums that I've ever been on. There's a great energy here.

+1
I had a former boss who said it was a good day when he learned something new. Reading the forum gives me lots of very good days. (Don’t know if I’m getting smarter though)

You can use a 2 inch circle and use any size bit. If you use a .25 bit on a 2 inch circle, you get a .25 hole in the center using the drilling toolpath. So you really don't need to resize them.

I echo everything that has been said above
I am very very much a newbie to all of this. and at a time when I was deciding which path to chose in so far as CAM/CAD software was concerned. Should I buy or should I go with FREE.
I'm so glad I chose to pay for the Vectric software. (amazing GUI) I started out with Cut 2D but was limited in a few areas..The upgrade path is very good and I now own V-Carve Desktop and the support network is second to none.
Still Learning and enjoying the ride
Thanks to everyone
Regards
C

If, by this, you mean that you used a "drilling toolpath" with the 6mm bit then you didn't have to resize the 1/4" (6.35mm) circles to 6mm at all. The drilling toolpath really doesn't care what size the circles are as there is only Z movement involved.
