Integral Flip Geometry
I have viewed Brian Oltrogge's "soap dish" video ( ) and have not been able to duplicate his Integral Flip Geometry. I would appreciate any suggestions or ideas from folks who have been able to replicate the tool path.

I don't think that was modeled in Aspire. Certainly not in V-Carve Pro

Re: Integral Flip Geometry
It's a technique I've seen in Vectric user group videos but I can remember which one. It's pretty easy to do as it's just a 2D vector placed around the 3D model shaped so that it will only key in one orientation so there's no risk of flipping the model the wrong way when doing the other side.
If you're wanting to know how to do it in the software he's using then you're on the wrong forum for that really.

Thank you Steve, I'm interested in the profile that enables the carved object to be flipped, not the soap dish itself.

Re: Integral Flip Geometry
The depth of the "steps" in the flip geometry must be equal to the tool diameter. That's what allows it to work.
He uses a 1/4" tool, so with a 1/4" step in the perimeter, flipping it makes it fit the outside of the kerf.

Tom: soap dish appears to be modelled in Rhinoceros but that's neither here nor there...WA1RTD wrote:I'm interested in the profile that enables the carved object to be flipped, not the soap dish itself.
This might help: http://support.vectric.com/tutorials/V8 ... rts_2.html It shows the creation of the self-aligning jig.
