load a gadget file

I found a gadget file on making finger joints from 2015 It has the lau file.I would like to know how to load it into V Carve pro gadget folder.

You need to place it in your Public Documents/Vectric Files/Gadgets/{ProgramVersion} folder.

For a defaults Windows 10 install with VCarve Pro 9.5 that would be C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Vectric Files\Gadgets\VCarve Pro 9.5

Once it's been placed there restart VCarve and it should appear on the menu. There's a very good chance it won't work though as there have been a number of updates since 2015 which could break a gadget written from then.

If it does appear and the it opens how would one tell if it is going to work.

You won't know until you try to use it. It will either work or throw an error message.
