Vcarve pro with Roland mdx-540 problems

Post by Violinguy246 »

Hi

I am having a strange thing happen with my roland mdx-540 and vcarve pro.

I am carving a 3D part of a violin arch. I use it for repair patches.
Roughing path works perfectly
First finish path works perfectly
However my final path with a very small .01 tapered bit doesn’t.
The bit drops to the appropriate safe z height and then moves to the correct first cut position, then before it starts cutting the bit moves to the highest z position and begins air cutting the part.

I have tried a dozen different combinations of safe z heights trying to find the glitch.
I am hoping someone may have had this happen or have an idea what’s going on.

Many thanks
John D

Is this 2 different files or have you generated all the toolpaths from the same file? If it's different files then check on the set up where you have set your z zero position, material surface or spoilboard surface

Couple of screenshots of the toolpath set up might help & there are people on here that understand gcode so if you could post the gcode fole then they may be able to tell you whats happening with the code

Even better....please post the actual file itself. (Saves a ton of time when troubleshooting questions like this.)
