All,
I have downloaded a .dxf of a push stick that I want to machine on my CNC. It appears to be a straightforward dxf. As I am still learning VCarve, i don't understand the error I am getting when a try to build a profile tool path. Can you decipher this code?
Thanks,
Stan

Re: Source of Error
Just taking a guess, that the material between your model and the edge of your workspace at the ends look a little too close together. Draw a 1/4" circle and drag it around and see if it doesn't fit somewhere.

Tried that and still get the error after upsizing the work area. It appears there is plenty of room for the bit, must be something not obvious with the dxf that is causing the error.

Re: Source of Error
I would turn on Advanced Toolpath Options to see if there's anything funky there. Also check that the material thickness is set correctly. You've already done what I thought might be the issue - increased the size of your work area. The program doesn't know the "real" workpiece dimensions, so they don't have to match the defined dimensions.

Went back and found an open vector. Pesky things they are. Joined them and presto.
Thanks for your input!

Re: Source of Error
Always worth running the Vector Validator if you get a seemingly inexplicable error message. It's far easier to track down errors like that now than it used to be before that tool was added.
