Travel laptop for Vcarve
Travel laptop for Vcarve
I travel for work but when home I'm on the computer designing and setting up the machine. I need some thoughts on affordable and lightweight laptops that I can run vcarve on. This way I can design while away from home and spend less time at home designing.

If you always will have internet access you can use the Remote Desktop Connection utility for Windows or Mac and connect to your home/shop computer. To do that you really don't need a very powerful laptop computer.

I have a Dell Inspiron with Aspire loaded. 8GB ram, 500GB hard drive. Works fine on the road. I also carry a small wireless mouse.

Re: Travel laptop for Vcarve
I'm on the road 6 to 8 months out of the year so I use a laptop all the time. I have a ASUS Q524U 2-in-1 Notebook with a Bamboo stylus and bluetooth trackball mouse. I also use Onedrive and Dropbox to keep everything in the cloud. This allows me to setup jobs from anywhere. The computer attached to my CNC is also connected to my Dropbox where all the gcode files are stored for jobs. When I'm home the CNC is ready to go...

Do you think this would work with a chrome book. This is what I use now while on the road.Rcnewcomb wrote:If you always will have internet access you can use the Remote Desktop Connection utility for Windows or Mac and connect to your home/shop computer.
