Hi.
I'm trying to achieve a 15 deg slope so I can make a scarf joint.
I used a 37.5mm surfacing bit after rough cutting the joint on a (small) table saw.
The toolpath strats in the centre works left (X-) quite accurately, returns to the centre works right (x+) but the whole process drifts in the Y+ direction giving a crooked orientation to the joint. I 've tried it twice. Same thing. THe workpiece remains fixed.
I understand that I could model a surface and do it via 3d but I shouldn't have to.
I probably don't understand how vectric does the fluting paths
I include a photo.
CAn anyone help with this please?

Re: fluting problem
Is your material top surface perfectly flat and parallel to the XY plane of the router? I suspect not.

Re: fluting problem
If it's happened twice...
When was the last time you surfaced your spoilboard also?
If preview is correct, something else is wrong.
"Flatness is King"
Center of the bit will start at the Start node, and end at the end of the open vector to the depths you have specified.

I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself

Re: fluting problem
The fluting toolpath orders the cuts in the order of the vectors being created I believe. I have overcome the lack of ability to control the order by trimming the vectors individually in the order I want them cut. I might be wrong about this. It has been a while since I have setup a taper joint.
I suspect that you are getting some lifting from the table as the joint progesses. Ordering the vectors should help. A down shear bit would also.
