Anyone ever have their x-carve stop mid carve and think it has finished?
I have set up the toolpaths 3 times now. When I import into Easel and run the preview it shows a complete carve (in both easel and vectric - preview animations show complete carve), but when I try to carve it the machine runs about 2 minutes (of a 33 minute job) and the completion window pops up like the job has finished.
so far I have:
1. rebuilt the toolpaths
2. separated multiple toolpath saves into separate files
3. restarted xcare and computer several times
4. resaved tool paths and resaved to different location
anyone have this happen or have any ideas?
machine stops mid carve
Re: machine stops mid carve
UPDATE: I tried two other files - same results - stops carve mid file

Sounds like a machine issue and something for the Inventables forum as in this post: https://discuss.inventables.com/t/it-ju ... pped/43366

What are you using to send the Gcode to your Xcarve? Could it be some trial version that has a line limit?

Re: machine stops mid carve
Is this a case of the control software having a line count limit? What is the line number that the machine stops at?
Re: machine stops mid carve
I would assume that if it was a line count issue I would have used that up a LOOONG time ago.
It does not stop at a particular line (at least I do not think so) I tried carving the same job 3 times and it stopped in a different spot each time. I would assume it would have stopped in the same spot if it were a line count thing.
Nothing is a trial version.
Someone on the inventable forum said it could be noise on the USB connection/cable. So I am going to try and change that tomorrow and see if it fixes the problem.

A solution is to use a very good shielded USB cable, no longer than necessary. Then, add a toroid donut to each end of the cable.
