V Carve inside Make Insert

Postby fred ruppert » Sun Oct 28, 2018 2:02 am

I would like to be able to put some details inside of a Male Insert, but am having difficulty figuring out how to. Any advice, or is there a tutorial I should be looking at?

Hi,

This is a confusing question. Can you be more specific on what you’re trying to describe? Maybe draw a picture or show us a screenshot of your layout. That would be helpful, too.

If you are talking about the VCarve inlay method, you glue the male insert in place and remove the excess material. Once you have a smooth surface, you can machine to add another inlay of different material, or cut (VCarve) the details you want into the surface. The Z0 setting should reference the same location for all of the cuts.
