Version 9.5 backwards compatibly (makerspace version)

I'm in charge of the CNC at our makerspace. Currently running version 9.


What issues do I need to look out for? Will the 9.5 makerspace version open files made in 9.0 makerspace version?

Are tool databases compatible?

Will our makerspace key work with 9 5?

Should I upgrade the machines to 9.5, or install 9.5 and keep 9.5?

Vectric software has always been Backward compatible. You can open 9 with 9.5, but not the other way around.

Yeah. But I'm not clear if the makerspace key will work.

Hi Mike,

The 9.5 version will open 9.0 files, tool databases are compatible, the makerspace keys should be compatible.
However files saved in in 9.5 won't be openable in 9, and so for those members that are perhaps using a version 9 trial then it might be worth keeping version 9 installed as well. The version 9 trial will expire soon though, so those members will have to upgrade to 9.5 anyway.

Well, it looks like version 9.5 isn't available yet as a trial version, nor a makerspace version. I'll just have to wait.
