Strange tool path

Post by tagguy »

I opened a file that I had cut successfully. I then changed the text from that file and when I reran the Vcarve tool path, I got a message that the text file would cut through the material. I checked my settings for the Vcarve and tried again, same message, this time I ignored it and previewed the results and got a series of strange circles cutting through the material. These circles were not in the original drawing. I then closed the file. When I reopened the file and tried again, again ignoring the cut through warning, now the circles were gone, but there were crazy "artifacts" cutting through the material. What could be wrong? I'm running Vcarve desktop 9.0

Hi Mike,

Post your .crv file, please. Likely, there are "bad" vectors (or simple pilot error). Show us (upload) the file and we can tell you what to do.

Perhaps open vectors in the text. That will do some strange things.

A bunch of circles means you have a crossing vector or vectors, usually in a script font.

I'm betting you changed the font from the original.
Some fonts (especially script) aren't CNC ready and need some node editing.
If you're using VCP 9x use the Vector Validator under the Drawing tab. It will show you where things are going wrong.
You can also look at the ToolPath Preview before Previewing the Toolpaths it will show you what characters aren't going to carve right....
