Hi
Using a onsrud 37-03 engraving cutter (used it before ok) and under the vcarve/engraving toolpath for the job i have selected what i use normally a 20deg .002"tip. Its set at dia 6.35mm, side angle 30 deg, pass as 1mm but has been up to 5mm for this test.
So upon selecting the text (tried normal font, tried it converted to curves and welded grouped etc) and set the start depth to 0 and the flat depth to 2.5mm, but no matter what i try i cannot for the life of me get it to cut down to the correct depth, it barely makes a cut.
For info, the plug side/inlay is working out exactly as it should, its just this bit, What makes this worse is i have done inlays with success but where on earth am i going wrong here please or missing
cheers bernie

Re: Cannot get the depth
The flat depth will only come into play if the tool can reach that depth to start with. The depth is defined by the inner and outer spacing of the vectors. Is the text small and/or thin?

Hi Bernie,
I think you will find the following Video Tutorial helpful. It will answer some basic questions about v-carving that everyone needs to know/learn. Here is the link:
