toolpaths

Post by Gunny Rogers »

I'm new to this so please be patient with me. First: I'm trying to make a simple sign using and engraving tool path. WhenI run it, it cuts out the first letter great, but that is where the problem begins. When the router goes to the subsequent letters the tool doesn't make contact with the material I'm engraving. I've examined the toolpath and the way it goes and in the simulation it looks good not not in actuality.

A few questions:
Can you post the CRV file?
Can you post a photo of the failed attempt?
What post processor are you selecting?
How are you holding the material?
Did you plan the material flat on the CNC before starting the engraving?
How are you setting Z-zero?
Is the bit slipping in the collet? How do you know?

If it looks OK in the preview then it is a frequently a mechanical problem related to material movement, machine flex, bit slippage, etc.
