how to carve name in cursive

How come when I try and carve script words it says I have open Vectors. I tried it in vcarve and engrave. Only a couple of letters come out. I just want to varve someones name. What am I doing wrong. Help please, I am new to this

Try convert to curves, then weld, that should do it.

Can you post the .crv file? What font is giving you problems?
Some script fonts are poorly made for VCarving. Convert to curves and use the Vector Validator (Checkmark) tool.
