Slicing, 3d carving, wasted time

Post by gadget-evilusions »

I am running a bunch of large models on my cnc. I am slicing the model into machinable thicknesses, 2", because that's the size foam I can get.

The problem I am having is that the internal sections of the model get 3d carved, when they don't need to be. Is there a way to not machine all the flat surfaces?

I circled the parts that need cut in blue and the part that doesn't in red on the attachment. Basically it's cutting alot of internal space as you can see from the other attachment that shows the entire model.

You can create vectors to control what is machined. One should go around the model and the other should be offset inward by enough to machine what you want.

Remember to use the "Selected Vectors" for the machining limit boundary.
