Something has happened to how my text is displayed on my screen
When I add text it comes up vertical on my screen not horizontally.
What setting is wrong

Check what font you're using, if the name of the font starts with an "@" it's a font designed to align vertically.

It that a function of vcarve or the way the font was designed to begin with

It's a function of the font as far as I know as all the fonts that do it appear to be Microsoft Windows and Office supplied ones.
