Help please

Post by cliftont »

I am trying to profile cut a simple Letter of the alphabet. Upon completion of the first cut, it gradually ramps up on its way to the second plunge, leaving an unwanted trench. I'm thinking I clicked a button I shouldn't have. Any Ideas

Assuming you've cut successfully before I would check the material thickness is correct. If you are zeroing the Z to the table surface and you've got the material thickness wrong you would get that behaviour.

Thanks Adrian, however I have tried that to no avail. I have the feed rate at 100 and the plunge rate at 30. which has been great up to now. Any other ideas?

Perhaps you can post your file so we can see if anything is amiss there.

Preview looks good so:

1. machine control software problem?
2. what post-processor are you using?

My machine's manufacturer provided a variant of the Vectric post-processor for their machine that I had to change. When changing a tool from the ATC it would ramp down to the starting point to save time. Problem is if you had things in the way it would crash into them.

I wonder if this is the same sort of problem where either 1 or 2 is ramping up to the next start point inappropriately.

Is it supposed to be a tiled job?

The job doesn't fit on the material in either direction so you're losing part of the B to the right where it's running off the board. Look at the toolpath preview in the 3D view and you can see where it's moving up out of the material. Doesn't sound like your problem but it's probably not what you would want to be doing.

It appears that my machine is stuck on the laser post processor. It gives me no other option. try to figure out how to change it. Thanks for the heads up
