Ring Doorbell For Flush Mount on Siding

Post by njload »

Has anyone ever cut a piece of wood so it would flush mount on vinyl siding? I picked up 2 ring video doorbells and would like to mount them on my siding. Searching online for them and they are either tough to find or expensive. My 2 local box stores were pretty much useless with very little or nothing in stock,

I have Vcarve Pro and not sure how you would cut I guess you would call it a bevel.

Fluting toolpath with a flat endmill or build a fixture to hold the part on an angle. Id likely make the fixture.

Something like this?

I used a double sided project.
On the front used a fluting toolpath on the top part as potzmannwoodshop suggested. The bottom part is just a flat vector toolpath.
On the backside I used a molding toolpath to get the angle cut.
Obviously it crude and could use some tweaking and the angle would need to be worked on. But it should give you an idea of at least one way to skin the cat.... :D :D :D

One way is to buy a scrap piece of bevel wood siding and cut pieces to glue to the back of the plate. Not very elegant, but if you are going to paint it, no one will notice the difference.
Good judgement comes from experience.

They're called light blocks. I've never seen a Home Depot that doesn't have them in stock and they're not very expensive at all.
The problem is, they're not gonna be in the department you would think, most think siding, they're actually in the lighting department.
