When I download a gadget into Vcarve pro do I need to do something special so that the program will find it. Or will it just appear in the gadgets tab.
Also I want to make finger joint boxes can that be done in the dovetail gadget?

Once you've downloaded the vgadget file you need to double click to install in VCarve or use the install option on the Gadget menu.
The Box Creator gadget includes finger joints, the Dovetail gadget doesn't.

Re: files folders for gadgats
I have a similar problem with this particular gadget.
I have noticed that the file extension is quite different from all the other gadget files. The Box_Creator_Gadget.vgadget note the extension (.vgadget) it is not install.exe like many of the other gadget files.
I also find that I am unable to get the Box Creator Gadget installed into my VCarve Pro too. I even tried changing the file extension to no avail.
The Box Creator Gadget sure looks like it would be a beneficial (time saving tool) gadget to have.

Re: files folders for gadgats
Prior to V9 all gadgets files from the Gadgets site were exe files that ran an installer program. From V9 onwards they are vgadget files that are associated directly with the last Vectric program installed.
As far as I'm aware the Box Creator gadget is a V9 only gadget (it's not on the pre-V9 site) so won't work in previous versions.

Thank You Adrian,
You have explained/solved my problem. I have VCarve Version 8.5 so I need to upgrade to V9 in order to be able to use the Box Creator Gadget.

Re: files folders for gadgats
I came across this message searching for a solution to uninstalling VGadget files... They don't appear in the Lua script folder... Does anyone have any idea how to uninstall these things?

Re: files folders for gadgats
Assuming you mean the actual gadget itself then delete them from where they are installed. They install to the relevant product folder in the Public Documents\Vectric Files\Gadgets folder.
If it's just the vGadget file you want to delete then delete it from wherever you downloaded it to as it's not needed once the installation is complete.

Re: files folders for gadgats
Sorry, I should have explained better...
I know how to delete a traditional Lua script file, you do that from the application data folder under LUA. What I'm talking about is a gadget that I installed by double clicking a .vgadget file. It installed (and is available for my use in Aspire) but I'm asking how do I uninstall a vgadget, not a traditional LUA. Does that make more sense?

Re: files folders for gadgats
Yes I understood what you meant. Delete them from the Public Documents folder as mentioned. That's where they install.
The application data folder is for Gadgets that come with the product not for those installed via downloaded vGadget files.
There is no difference between them other than where they are installed. The vGadget file is just a ZIP wrapper that Aspire recognises to copy the files to the correct location.
