Hi all. Sorry for newbie question but is there a way to break up a really long detail carve into multiple sessions? Like is there a way to find the spot in the g-code the machine is at when you stop it then restart from that position later?
I have a large sign I want to make but it will take 15 hrs to cut the 3D relief. I want to be able to rough it out and then start the fine detail carve and be able to break it up into multiple days.
Thanks and if this is somewhere on the forum, I didn't find, point me to it.

Look in the Application data folder, Post processor guide. Its called Tape Splitting Support. Its not hard to do, but its been a few years since I have used it.

There is a link to the Post Processor Editing Gude on the Help menu.
Some control software will also let you start and stop jobs from one large file.

Re: Breaking up long project cuts
Not sure if this will help….
When I do long projects especially detailed multi timber species inlay cutting boards where I need to remove the board from the cnc and place in my press overnight and return it to the exact position for the next cut.
From the home position X0 Y 0 I position the spindle to the center of my board and note the new X Y positions before setting XY to zero at the new position.
Next day when I have replaced the board and set home position again I just enter the coordinates that I noted and reset zero again… perfect alignment. I may need to repeat this 3 or 4 times until all inlays have be cut and pressed.
I am using UCCNC as my controller
This method works for me whether it’s an inlay or a 3d carve where I need to pause between roughing and final tool path.
