tight vector?

Postby weirdbeard » Fri Jun 08, 2018 6:34 am

Hi All,

Im trying to create a vector around the selected vectors - However the create Vector Boundary tool is not giving me quite what I want

Is it possible to somehow create a "tight" vector around the selected vector? or am i just going to have to manually edit what I have here with in node editing mode?

Perhaps Im being thick - I hope so haha

Thanks

Copy all of the vectors to a new layer. Turn off the previous layer.
Use the Weld tool on the copied vectors to get the tight outline.

That's not the result I would expect. Can you post the .crv file?
Also, try using the weld tool a second time. And/or using node edit tool to see if there is something unusual about the original drawing. Although I wouldn't expect to find much.

If there are vectors in the original drawing that are not closed, It looks like the weld tool will do funny things with them. I've submitted this bug to Vectric Support.

I don't use the weld tool for jobs like that. I select the outside vectors, copy/paste them and then use the trim tool to remove overlaps. The Weld tool has always had "odd" behaviour depending on the order vectors are chosen in, whether they are grouped or not, how far they overlap etc so I prefer the manual approach to know what is going on.

Thanks Guys - Seems like it would be a great additional option to be included with the create boundary tool

I used the boundary tool then used the node editing (15 minutes)
