I am trying to flush out a way to engrave lines on a 3d surface.
Like checkering on a forearm stock. A 2" square with a half arc
Then draw lines on the arc to create a diamond pattern .25" squares...
Using Sketch ver 17 output file. I have the 3D object.
Import into vCarve Pro v9
The image imports into vCarve. At this point I want to draw lines on the image.

Profile on the line and select “project onto 3D”

Either a profile or vcarve toolpath should work OK, obviously you will need to play about with closed vector spacing for a vcarve so easiest way would be how Randall suggested, draw your grid of open vectors & then profile on the line, toolpath preview will allow you to work out what sort of depth looks best. Then just project toolpath onto 3D model
