finger joint gadget on Youtube
I found this you tube video on cutting finger joints out side of your cnc machine.
My shapeoko will extend past the front rail so that I could cut 1/2" thick material.
I got the files from the fellow that did the video but do not know how to load them into vcarve pro to get them to work.
So look at the video and maybe offer some advice on how to get it to work in version9
Thanks Jeff

Re: finger joint gadget on Youtube
You would need to place them in the Gadgets folder of Public Documents. Default for latest versions of Window is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Vectric Files\Gadgets\{Vectric Software Version}
If there's more than one file then you would need to create a subfolder under there (Finger Joint for example) and put the files in there.

What don't you understand from what Adrian posted?
Just start by clicking on your c drive, what is on the drive will be listed, find users & click on that, then keep just following that line
Then just paste the files into the folder

An easy way to locate the Gadgets folder: in Aspire or VCarve click on Open Application Data Folder under the File menu.

Thant one I all ready have but it does not cut square corners.
The one in the video is designed to be cut with the wood standing up so it cuts flat bottoms like you would get on a table saw.
If your router won't go past the front rail of your cnc base at least the thickness of the material you want to cut the then it would not work for you.
With out making some sort of hole inside to drop the wood into.

Re: finger joint gadget on Youtube
That's the gadget folder for the gadgets that are installed with the software at each version. They will get overwritten when upgrading etc which can be an issue with name clashes with 3rd party gadgets and/or modifications.Phil wrote:An easy way to locate the Gadgets folder: in Aspire or VCarve click on Open Application Data Folder under the File menu.
Phil
The proper place for 3rd party gadgets is really the Vectric Files area in Public Documents.
